With our HQ in East Kilbride in the UK, we are part of a larger organisation with offices, manufacturing and distribution presence in North and South Ireland.

How to Place an Order

  1. Firstly find the products you are interested in by looking at individual shops or searching for keywords. 
  2. To find out more about a product and see a larger image with a full description, click the small thumbnail image or product name.
  3. The list price and the web price will be displayed but please remember our pricing policy.
  4. When you display the details about a product the stock status is shown which is either:

    In Stock - This product is stocked in our warehouse. If you order more than our stock level, we will send you an e-mail and/or telephone you advising you of the quantity available to ship, and then decide how to proceed with the order.

    Expected dd/mm/yy - the date when we will be able to ship the product.

    Ordered on request, takes x days - We will place an order with our supplier on receipt of your order and will be able to ship the product to you in the number of days indicated.

    Ordered on request - We will place an order with our supplier on receipt of your order and will advise you by e-mail and/or telephone of the best date we can ship the product to you.

    Sold Out - None in stock and none on order.
  5. To buy an item put the quantity required in the quantity field, then click the add to basket icon.  Continue shopping until all the items are added to your basket.
  6. Once you have finished shopping click Check Out. Provided all the items are in stock the order will be dispatch to you automatically. All orders received prior to 3:00pm will be dispatch on that day and delivered the next business day.  Orders placed at the weekend will be dispatched the following Monday to be delivered on Tuesday.
  7. If any items are out of stock, you have the choice of waiting until all items are available; or ship what is available now and wait for the balance.
    Certain postcodes areas are excluded and are detailed here.
  8. Next you need to supply Delivery Details, Payment Details for either Credit or Debit cards.  We welcome these cards Visa Credit and Debit, Mastercard and Switch.
  9. Delivery is free to the mainland UK for all orders over £50 excluding VAT.  Orders under £50 will have a delivery charge of £5 + VAT automatically added to your order.

  10. We'll send you an e-mail confirming your order.
  11. You can check the status of your order by clicking TrackIt at the bottom of each home page or on the bottom of your e-mail confirmation.
  12. With your goods we will send a combined dispatch note and VAT invoice highlighting any items, which have gone on back order. 
  13. After receiving your order if you are not entirely satisfied with your order please see our no quibbles return policy.

Your Basket

Your basket displays the items your are about to purchase.  You can alter the quantity in the basket by clicking on the quantity, and re-entering a new quantity.  Entering zero quantity deletes the line.


Pricing on is available in two currencies, GBP for the UK and Euro for Ireland. If the website is displaying the wrong currency for your location you can change it here or use the flags on the left hand side of the screen.

Fast Basket

To allow you to place a repeat order quickly, we have a Fast Basket facility, simply enter your ScobiesDirect order number and your basket will be automatically re-created from your previous order.  Once the items are in your basket you can change the quantity field to the required amount, delete lines you no longer require and add additional items to complete your order.

You can also enter multiple order numbers to create an order combining the items from any previous orders you have placed with ScobiesDirect.

ScobiesDirect order numbers can be found on your order confirmation and order dispatch e-mails as well as the combined despatch note/invoice supplied when the goods are delivered.

Tracking an Order

Most of our UK deliveries are made using the national carrier DPD.

Combining our systems with theirs allows tracking of your order through our warehouse right to your door, you can even check who signed for the delivery.

You can track the progress of your order by clicking the Trackit icon on your order confirmation e-mail.

If you are tracking your order via the link on the website, go to the DPD logo from the home page, and you need to enter your order number and the time you placed your order.  This information is given on your order confirmation e-mail.  When entering the time, excluding the seconds e.g. 09:15:29 should be entered as 09:15.

DPD Text Alerts

At checkout, if you enter your mobile number in the Delivery Text Alert # box, DPD will send you two texts about the progress of your delivery.

Text 1
Lets you know that DPD have your order and lets you know intended delivery DAY
If the delivery day does not suit you , you can move the intended DAY by + 1, +2 or + 3 days from the intended day by replying to your text message.

Text 2
Lets you know that your local DPD driver has your order and also PREDICTS a one hour delivery time slot.
If the delivery TIME does not suit you , you can move the intended DAY by + 1, +2 or + 3 days from the intended day by replying to text message.
You cannot change the TIME of the delivery.
You will then get another text on the delivery day you selected , which will again predict the delivery time slot for that day.
You can change the delivery date right up to delivery time.

This feature is disabled if we are planning to use a different carrier. It is only available if we use DPD.

Discount Voucher

To redeem a discount voucher please click on the discount voucher button at the bottom of the
'view basket' page.

You will then be asked to verify your discount voucher code, once this has been entered a discount to the value of your voucher will be automatically applied to your order. (only one voucher can be used per order)
You will automatically go to the 'view basket' page as soon as you add an item to your basket.

ScobiesDirect for Deli's, Cafe's and Sandwich Shops

In 2010 ScobiesDirect launched its new website for Deli's, Cafe's and Sandwich Shops offering a low cost, delivered service supplying everything from sandwich fillings to coffee cups & salt & pepper sachets.

Finding Products

Are you looking for a particular product?  To search for an item, you can:   

  1. Type a keyword into the search box, which appears at the top right of every page (remember the less you type the wider your search and the more chances you have of finding an item).  This initial search looks for a match against our product names.  All matches will be returned and a summary will be given at the start and end of the results page showing the number of products found in total, the number of pages and the page number you are on.  If the initial search does not give you the results you would like, you can then run an advanced search.  This searches against both the product name and description.
  2. As part of the advanced search you also have the ability to search on a part number.  Part numbers are shown when you drill into a product and will also be shown on your invoice.
  3. Click on a shops symbol on the left of the screen to enter that shop and then click on a shop category.  For example by clicking on the Casings shop symbol you will see the Natural Casings section by clicking this you will see our full range of natural casings.
  4. Within each shop we also show you the top 10 selling items from that shop to make it easier for you to see the most popular products.

Damage, Returns & Cancellation Policy

If your delivery is damaged when it arrives, this must be notified to us within 2 business days.

Our "no quibbles" guarantee means that if for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, you can return it to us in its original condition within 7 days of the date you received the item. There is a delivery cost involved for uplifting goods and you will need to agree to pay this so it can be uplifted. Please contact us by e-mail at and we will arrange for the goods to be collected.

On receipt of the returned goods in a resellable condition we will raise a refund to your credit card or other method of payment.

Occasionally, we will ask you to retain or dispose of the goods if it makes more economic sense.
Please note we can only accept the return of opened items if they are faulty.

You can cancel an order or the remaining portion of an order by e-mailing us at before 1pm on the day of dispatch.

The Company warrants that the goods supplied by it are of sound material and workmanship and that accordingly:-
  1. In the case of food processing and preparation equipment or any part or parts thereof (other than any consumable or wearing parts requiring regular repair or renewal under normal working conditions), such equipment shall be free from any fault or defect arising from defective materials or workmanship for a period of six months unless specified separately, from the date of supply provided however that such warranty periods shall be limited to three calendar months in the case of reconditioned equipment, unless specified separately.
  2. In the case of packaging materials, casings and ingredients, consumables or wearing parts of food processing and preparation equipment and other consumable materials, such goods shall be free from any fault or defect arising from defective material or workmanship for a period of one calendar month from the delivery date thereof.
Provided however that:-
  1. Any warranty claim under this clause must be notified in writing to the Company before the expiry of the relevant warranty period.
  2. This warranty shall only apply to the equipment referred to in paragraph (a) above if such equipment shall have been properly operated by the Purchaser under the conditions and in accordance with the instructions specified by the Company and using only original or replacement parts supplied or approved by the Company, and no such equipment nor any parts thereof shall be returned to the Company and no claim in respect thereof shall be considered by the Company unless such equipment and the operating conditions thereof shall first have been inspected at the Purchaser's premises by the Company's engineer.
  3. This warranty shall only apply to the goods referred to in paragraph (b) above if such goods shall not normally require repair or renewal under normal working conditions within such one-month warranty period and shall not have been cut, printed or processed after delivery to the Purchaser, and no such goods shall be returned to the Company and not claim in respect thereof shall be considered by the Company unless such goods shall first have been inspected at the Purchaser's premises by the Company's representative.
  4. This warranty shall not apply to any goods (including any equipment or parts referred to in paragraph (a) above) which are the subject of any modification, repair or other work carried out by the Company pursuant to any contract for or including the supply or services, and the Company's sole obligation under any such contract in respect of any services to be supplied shall be to exercise a reasonable standard of care in carrying out such work.
  5. The Company's sole liability under this warranty shall be at its option and at its cost to repair or to replace any faulty or defective goods (or the faulty or defective part or parts thereof) or to repay to the purchaser the purchase price for the faulty or defective goods or services provided.
  6. The Company shall be under no liability to repair or replace as aforesaid, unless and until the Purchase shall have paid in full for the goods and shall have performed all his other obligations hereunder.

Pricing Policy

Our aim is to offer you both the best service and lowest prices available anywhere on the internet for all of your butcher supplies.  For all products the pricing is listed for both the normal list price and the discounted web price.  All prices are shown in pounds sterling for UK deliveries or Euro's for Ireland.

Some items have price breaks where as you purchase in greater quantities, the price reduces.

We also run special offers and other promotions which reduce prices too.

Delivery Information & Costs

Delivery is free to the mainland UK for all orders over £50 excluding VAT.  Orders under will have a delivery charge of £5 + VAT automatically added to your order. Certain postcode areas are excluded and are detailed below.

When signing for a delivery, if you do not have time to check the delivery, you must write "unexamined" next to your signature.  If you do not do this and later you discover that the package is damaged, we are unable to claim the carrier. Damages must be notified by the customer in writing within 2 business days.

A quote will be issued for all other destinations or export enquires by phone or e-mail.

When you place an order with us we will send you an e-mail confirmation.  Using the link on that e-mail you can track the progress of your order.

Increased Costs

Unfortunately, due to rising shipping costs, we have had to apply an increased charge for shipping to certain regions of the country.

The regions affected are listed below. You can click on an area to check if your postcode area will be affected.

Items not in Stock

As you add items to your basket you are advised if the item is in stock or not.  If you order a mixture of items that are in stock and out of stock, you are given the choice to part ship, or wait until the order is complete. If you chose to have a part shipment, the subsequent shipment of goods to complete your order will be sent without additional delivery charge.  If for any reason, a product is flagged as "In Stock", but we are unable to ship it, our customer service team will contact you to inform you of the new delivery date.

Credit & Debit Cards

We accept all major credit and debit cards, with the exception of American Express.

We take the security of our customer's details very seriously and are confident about the transaction security we offer on

Our secure-servers uses VeriSign software and SSL encryption to securely transfer your personal information including credit or debit card numbers.  The encryption process takes the characters you enter and converts them into bits of code that are then securely transmitted over the Internet and can't be seen by others.

The cardholder will be debited immediately upon completion of the transaction.  We recommend that the order confirmation should be printed and kept in a safe place.

Transactions will appear on your card statement as "MC".

Customers are now able to obtain a password and log in.  Logging in will allow you to:

  • view a list of items you have bought within the last nine months
  • order straight from that list, saving you time
  • review the status of your orders
  • receive valuable loyalty points
  • obtain copy invoices
  • change your password
  • amend your details

To use the service, you must have bought from the site previously.  Using your e-mail address and a password you can then access the enhanced pages.

To obtain a password, you must get activated.  Follow the on screen instructions, and by entering your e-mail address, a temporary password will be e-mailed to you.  You can then log on and change the temporary password.

You do not need to log in to place an order.  Login in only gives you enhanced functionality and is not essential to purchase.

Loyalty Scheme

Once you have logged in you will receive valuable points every time you order.   The points are redeemable against a variety of gifts or as a discount on the site.

Your earned points can be viewed on your home page once you are logged in.

If there has been no transactions on your account for 12 months, then the points will be lost.

The loyalty scheme is only available to businesses customers; individuals and home users are excluded.

How do I save a basket? / How do I use a saved basket?

Our new saved basket facility is easily accessed through the log-in feature and is located at the bottom left of the page under your home.

To use this function simply add items into your basket as normal, then from the basket page on the bottom of the screen you will see the prompt "Click here to save your basket for future use."

Once you have clicked on the link above you will then be taken to a screen called Basket Saver, which asks you to save your basket for future use and gives you the option to name your saved basket.

After you have completed your saved basket you can retrieve it at any time from the link on the menu bar at the bottom left hand side of the page, and reload your saved basket to an active basket.

If you want to change your Saved Basket, use this screen and select "e; Delete Saved Basket"e; then reload the basket and re-save the basket.

You can have as many saved baskets as you want

Remember that you must be logged in to use this function.


You will receive a combined Delivery Note / Invoice which you should use as your VAT invoice.  Copy invoices are available to download if you log in.

For sales in the UK we charge VAT at the appropriate rate.  On the 4th January 2011 the standard rate for non food items increased from 17.5% to 20%.  Food items are zero rated.  Our UK VAT number is  GB 659 1432 23.  

For sales in the Republic of Ireland we charge VAT at the appropriate rate.  On the 1st December 2008 the standard rate for non food items increased from 21% to 21.5%. On the 1st January 2010 it reverted back to 21%.  Food items are zero rated.  Our Irish VAT number is IE 6540968 P

For sales in the EEU, but out with the UK or Republic of Ireland, on non food items we charge VAT at 17.5% unless we have the customers VAT number.  If we have the customers VAT number we can then export it without VAT.

Sales out with the EEU are classified as an export, and no VAT will be charged.        

MultiSave Buy more, save more with Multisave.  Launched in July 08, there are various forms of offers, which run from time to time.  Here are some of them:

From time to time, Scobies Direct provides free samples for trialing its products. Samples are provided free of charge, all we ask is you pay the freight cost.

If you Log In, there are even more samples to choose from, and we'll throw in the freight for FREE too!

  • Scobies Direct staff may contact the customer to discuss how the samples perfomed.
