Scobies Direct: Britain's First Internet Purchasing for Butchers & Processors
Scobie & Junor has been serving the UK meat industry since 1919.
In January 2001 we launched our internet purchasing for butchers,
www.scobiesdirect.com allowing
butchers across the country direct access to 1000's of products at
wholesaler prices.
With the rollout of broadband across the UK, this service has seen
unprecedented growth. In January 2009 we welcomed our 1,000th customer.
New customers join every day, enjoying the freedom to browse 24/7. Our busiest day is Sunday
evening when many place their orders for a Tuesday delivery.
In 2010
ScobiesDirect launched its new website for Deli's, Cafe's and
Sandwich Shops
www.scobiesdirect.com/deli offering a low cost, delivered
service supplying everything from sandwich fillings to coffee
cups & salt & pepper sachets.
We are centrally located just outside Glasgow off the M77/M73/M74 in
East Kilbride.
From our central distribution hub we distribute
throughout the UK, with most customers enjoying a next day
service.
We use national carriers DPD (previously called Parceline) and Palletways who
have online tracking for delivery checking.
Local customers
are welcome to pick up their order.
Located on an eight acre site with a 82,000 sq foot warehouse storing 3,500
pallets and 280 Kardex rotating shelves gives us fast access to products.
The distribution centre incorporates large picking and packing areas where of thousands of products
are checked and shipped every day.
Orders received before 4pm are shipped same day, stock permitting.

bringing our customers the very best quality products and service.
In fact we have achieved the highest national standard in the
form of
British
Retail Consortium recognition for both ingredient and packaging
manufacturing. In addition we have
Valid-IT certification
for Soya, both in concentrate and isolate form.
The scope of our food BRC certificate
is the blending, packing and storage of dry ingredients and
the production of marinades at the East Kilbride site.
Our food BRC site number is
8511005 to Food Issue 5. Grade : A 15 Dried
foods and ingredients.
The scope of our packaging BRC certificate
is the manufacture of elasticated meat netting, string, &
elasticated string for food use, and the thermoforming
of bone caps for use in the meat industry at the East Kilbride site.

to Packaging Materials Issue 3, meeting
requirements for category 1.
The Valid-IT
programe enables retailers to ensure that their
ingredients suppliers have appropriate certification, as
well as adequate testing and traceability in place.
This is mainly to assess Non GM Ingredients Suppliers.
The Valid-IT programe is managed through a
website which can be password accessed all over the
world, by the retailers own label suppliers. Scobies
are listed on this site for soya Isolate and
soya concentrate.
